ABU DHABI – H. E. Madiyar Menilbekov Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, said that October 1 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as it dates back to this day in 1992, and over three decades, relations between the two countries were distinguished to be firmly established, distinguished and developed, based on a rich and ancient heritage of historical ties, based on mutual respect and joint cooperation.
During a press conference held at the Kazakhstan embassy in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, His Excellency described the permanent communication between the leadership of the two countries as a strategic model for constructive global cooperation in various fields, in a way that consolidates and strengthens bilateral relations, referring to the visit of His Excellency the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Abu Dhabi, to perform the duty of condolences on the death of the late, God willing, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God bless him”, which was a renewed occasion to emphasize the strength of Kazakh-Emirati relations, and the desire Sincerity in further strengthening it and elevating it to the highest levels, in the interest of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
The Kazakh ambassador stressed that the UAE and Kazakhstan mutually support each other’s efforts to achieve sustainable and advanced growth for the two countries, and said: “In light of the challenges the world is currently witnessing, both the UAE and Kazakhstan are seeking to strengthen their partnership and accelerate and promote strategic projects in an increasingly comprehensive way, in pursuit of peace. And prosperity for all the peoples of the two countries and the world, they were able to write about 100 comprehensive legal documents that regulate the various bilateral relations, including trade, economy, investment, and other issues of concern to both sides.
His Excellency the Ambassador added: “By extrapolating the political and diplomatic history of the two countries, the features of congruence appear in the political and strategic positions on various issues, as the UAE actively supports Kazakhstan’s foreign policy initiatives, while Kazakhstan’s positions on the UAE’s foreign and regional policies agree, while economic and trade cooperation played The important role in strengthening Kazakh-Emirati relations over the past many years.
The ambassador explained: “The relations between Kazakhstan and the UAE began on October 1, 1992, and the UAE embassy has worked in Astana since October, while the Kazakhstan embassy was opened in the UAE in September 2006, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Dubai since 1997, pointing out to The development of relations between the two sides in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust.
The ambassador said: “We are proud of the UAE’s active support for Kazakhstan’s foreign policy initiatives, at a time when the two countries positions on most regional and international policy issues coincide, while Kazakhstan’s leadership enhances the political and economic trends of the UAE regionally and globally, explaining that the comprehensive strategic partnership relations between the two countries are developing. He added: “The UAE is a member of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and regularly sends representatives to the triennial conference of leaders of the world and traditional religions, both of which are Kazakhstan’s initiatives. The UAE also supported Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish the Islamic Food Security Organization (IFSO) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
His Excellency Ambassador said: “The UAE is the largest trading partner of Kazakhstan in the Arab region, as the trade volume between the two countries in 2021 reached a record $709 million, exports from Kazakhstan to the UAE amounted to $634 million, imports $75 million, and the total trade volume. During the past ten years (2012-2021) about $3.75 billion, of which Kazakhstan’s exports to the UAE amounted to $3 billion, and imports – $750 million, while the value of Emirati investments amounted to $4.2 billion, through 23 projects in Kazakhstan.
He added: “In the nearly three decades of its modern history, Kazakhstan has amazingly transformed into a full member of the international community, a regional leader, a modern state with a strong economy, and a stable society, which possesses an economic basis to ensure the required level of material well-being for the Kazakh people. In achieving the largest model of peaceful coexistence between about 140 nationalities, especially since not a single person was killed in Kazakhstan during the years of independence as a result of ethnic conflicts.
He added: “Over the past 30 years, Kazakhstan has established diplomatic relations with 186 countries and turned into one of the dynamically developing economies in Eurasia and a prominent diplomatic voice on the international scene. The economy has increased 15 times and the population income 9 times. Kazakhstan has become among the 50 most advanced countries In the world, 25 leading countries in terms of business, and also Kazakhstan is currently considered one of the 50 most competitive economies in the world, and the national economic output has increased 24 times.”
Kazakhstan has also become one of the 30 leading countries in the digital economy in a short historical period. Over the years of independence, more than 390 billion dollars of foreign direct investment were attracted to Kazakhstan, i.e. more than 70% of the total investment flow to the Central Asian region.
He said: “Over the past five years, the volume of manufacturing sales between Kazakhstan and the UAE has increased by 21%, while exports have increased by 16.3%, and imports by 41.3%. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Emirati entrepreneurs have invested about $2.7 billion in Kazakhstan, While 13 projects were launched in Kazakhstan, with the participation of Emirati capital, with a total value of about $1.2 billion, and about 10 other projects worth more than $3 billion are in the active implementation phase, pointing to the construction of the “Abu Dhabi Plaza” complex in the capital, Astana, as the largest project. Bilateral investment, at a cost of $1.6 billion.
His Excellency the Ambassador touched on the cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, where representatives of Kazakh folk art regularly participated in the Sheikh Zayed Festival, which is an international cultural and entertainment festival, which has been held since 2009 and aims to expand cultural cooperation between different countries, as well as introducing the residents of the UAE to the national and cultural heritage of various peoples of the world. Their crafts, arts, and creativity, and in 2018, a cultural cooperation agreement were signed between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Culture and Youth in the UAE, and a memorandum of cooperation in the field of tourism was signed between the two sides in September 2022.
